It’s unknown if the Nik Collection will continue to be updated with major features in the future. In a Google+ post, the company notes that their long-term investment is on building photo editing tools like Snapseed and Google Photos for mobile. Besides mobile, though, Nik also developed plugins for desktop photo editors - and starting today they are also free.Įverything in the Nik Collection - including Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro, and Dfine - is now free to download for Mac and Windows. The plugins for Adobe Photoshop and Apple Aperture do such things as color correction, retouching and creative effects, and image sharpening. Those who purchased the Nik Collection in 2016 will get an automatic refund in the coming days. Since then, many of Snapseed’s features have been integrated into Google’s various photo products. In 2012, Google purchased Nik Software and made their excellent mobile photo editor Snapseed free on Android and iOS.
